   The side event aims to highlight the crucial role of national parliaments and international parliamentary assemblies in countering terrorism in an era of unprecedented technological evolution. Such cooperation is situated within the broader framework of multilateral, multi-stakeholder, and multi-level governance, as well as comprehensive strategies grounded in respect for human rights and international law. The side event will examine how diverging approaches to technological sovereignty, together with fragmented legal and policy frameworks, may impede strategic goals and outcomes aimed at strengthening regional and global instruments for countering terrorist narratives and activities, both online and offline. The event will discuss and identify strategic priorities for Member States in adapting counter-terrorism policies and cooperation frameworks to the opportunities and risks posed by Artificial Intelligence and will share successes and lesson learned from the UNOCT and UNICRI led initiatives, such as CT TECH+ and AI POL.
